Check with a vet: I will always recommend that any sudden change in your dog's behaviour should be brought to your vet's attention in the first instance. No amount of behaviour therapy will alter behaviour being caused by underlying illness or pain.
Contact me in writing: Once your vet has given you the all-clear, please make first contact with me in writing, either via email or the contact form below. Take your time and provide as much detail as possible; anything you believe to be relevant. This will give me the opportunity to consider your needs, check my schedule with potential dates, and provide you with an individualised quote for the services you require.
Not sure what to write? The more information you provide, the better. However, the following information is usually the most useful:
Information about your dog: their name, breed, age, sex, whether they've been neutered and when, their vaccination status, how long you've had them (from puppyhood or a rescue?), any health issues, anything that's occurred in their history that you believe to be relevant, what they do day-to-day (how often they're walked, fed, bedtimes, etc).
Information about the issue: specifics about what your dog is doing, when it happens, when it started, whether or not the issue is getting worse over time, any incidents you believe may have first triggered the behaviour, any patterns of behaviour that you've noticed, anything you've tried to resolve the issue, why you've decided to reach out to a behaviourist, what you hope to achieve.
Information about yourself: your name and postcode, a contact telephone number, your living situation (e.g. who you and your dog live with/see frequently - both human and animal), the type of area you live in (rural or urban, busy or quiet, etc), any recent changes to your homelife that may be relevant (house move, new baby/puppy, new partner, divorce, etc).
I understand that some of this information is quite personal, so please only share what you are comfortable with and what you believe to be relevant to your dog's issues. Rest assured that all of your information is treated confidentially and in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation.
Finally, if you have any other questions about my services, feel free to ask.
Looking forward to hearing from you, and I hope to meet you and your dog very soon!
